It turned out to be the special night that they had wanted.  As soon as the dinner was over, it was the turn of the  Big Band and the start of the show “THE LAST OF THE BIG BANDS”last of the big bands

Mike James’s new show The Last of the Big Bands features the music of Glen Miller, Count Basie and Tommy Dorsey who all left their mark on the music world with some of the best swing tunes of yesterday. Combine that with the orchestral and popular sounds of Bert Kempfert , James Last and Andre Rieu. couple this with vocal tributes to the song stylist of yesterday and today (e.g. Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Buble, Diana Krall) and you have a show of unforgettable musical magic.

This unique show, tracing the history of the Big Bands from the 1940s to the present day, encompasses many of the flag-waving numbers from the swing era, with the most popular tunes of today.  In musical terms the end product was a high-powered and dynamic mix of the past and present. This is what Jim Godsell says about the night ” WHAT AN EVENING TO REMEMBER -AS WE ALL HAD SUCH A GOOD TIME .
